I drove to Richmond to see Bobby for his 23rd--jeez--birthday, so alcohol was really non-existent. However, I did forget to mention earlier, though, that on Wednesday night (I think it was), someone stole our large framed composite that goes above our fireplace. From what I here, those babies are a few thousand dollars. The plot thickens: someone found a condom wrapper, a used condom, and underwear in the parlor of Theta. So there were two mysteries that needed solving. We think we know some men who know the whereabouts of our composite, but none of them are speaking... and so we continue to play detective, but to no avail.
As for the mystery couple, no word on that either. All of this occurred somewhere between the hours of 3:00 am and 8:00 am, when the missing items (and forgotten items) were noticed. Although there is an honor code here, the various items of importance from various greek organizations seem to be in a league of their own, where the rules are: there are no rules. The stealing is such that there is actually an Amnesty Day in the spring where all stolen items are anonymously returned at a selected location so the process can begin again. Many big items that go unseen for months are usually returned on this day, because if the culprit's identity is known and they do not return an item, they know that their fraternity will be targeted all year long. Although hopefully we get our composite back soon because the wall looks so ugly and bland without it.
My trip to Richmond was very nice-- I watched four football games in one day... am I a good girlfriend of what? Just kidding... I'm actually starting to enjoy the games since I'm actually learning more about the rules and following a few teams. Maybe next year I'll try to get a fantasy league? HAH (but this is America-- one can dream).
I have a test tomorrow in US Economic History. I didn't do too well on the last test so hopefully this section goes better. I just really am worried because last test I ran out of so much time that I only had a two-sentence conclusion for my main essay. Awful! But I don't have extended time here and so I'll just chug along. I have to say, I really was expecting to see a more drastic change in my grades this semester. So far, I'm pretty much average. I guess because I'm still going out I can't be too shocked, but I guess I thought that at least eliminating hangovers would make for more productive studying (which it was, I guess I'm just taking harder classes). We'll see... I'm trying not to get too hung up on it, just taking it assignment by assignment.
For all, that's it. I do however, think I really want to drive cross country this summer. I've been thinking it for years, talking about it for one, and now I just really actually want to do it. I think it would be amazing to take two photos in every state I cross: one that captures that land, and one that captures the essence of the people. This sounds a little hippyish of me, and I realize that, but I can't stop thinking about it (maybe I've been listening to too much off-beat music).
Now that really is all it.... I'm off to study.
